An Doan Nguyen

An Doan Nguyen (b. 1978, Phuc Long, Vietnam) was educated at, among other places, Wimbledon College of Art, earning a Bachelor of Fine Art, and studied Art History at the University of Bergen. His work has been acquired by several major institutions both in Norway and abroad, and he has decorated several private and public buildings.

Nguyen's paintings can be described within the photorealistic genre. The artist's works are often highly detailed, with heavily painted brushstrokes. Light and shadow are carefully considered and used in a dramatic and emphatic way. Contrasts and dramatic compositions can at times be likened to the Baroque masters such as Rembrandt, Caravaggio, and Velázquez.
