Ole Marius Jørgensen
Ole Marius Jørgensen (b. 1976) is a Norwegian art photographer known for his carefully staged and cinematic images. Through theatrical lighting, precise color compositions, and a clear narrative structure, he explores themes such as nostalgia, alienation, and the passage of time.
Growing up in 1980s Norway, Jørgensen was strongly influenced by American popular culture and the narrative power of film. This fascination led him to study film in Norway and England before establishing himself as a photographer in 2004. Cinematic elements – light, composition, and atmosphere – characterize all of his series, which show influences from both classic painterly tradition and modern visual storytelling.
Among his most renowned projects are Space Travels (2015–2017), Vignettes of a Salesman (2016–2018), A Long Forgotten Nocturne (2018–2019) and Finding the Red (2019). Through these, he explores humanity's encounter with time, place, and identity – often with a focus on the solitary and quiet aspects of everyday life.
Ole Marius Jørgensen has exhibited in numerous galleries and art fairs in Europe, the USA, and Asia. His works are found in private collections in Oslo, New York, Madrid, Berlin, Hong Kong, and Los Angeles, among other places.
