Hanne Giertsen
Hanne Giertsen (born 2000) is a Norwegian visual artist and art teacher based in Oslo and Sandvika. She works with hyperrealistic paintings where hands, faces, and body details are central. The motifs are built up through many layers of acrylic or oil, and are characterized by close-up sections and precise observation of skin, light, and texture.
Giertsen's painterly expression is inspired by Pointillism and Impressionism, particularly in the way she uses color breaks and lighting to create depth and atmosphere. Hands serve as a recurring motif, used to explore expression, movement, and human intimacy. This gives her works an intimate, emotional quality that balances between the photographic and the painterly.
With a five-year visual arts education behind her and as a current master's student, Giertsen has established a distinct visual voice characterized by technical precision and artistic reflection. Each work is the result of time-consuming layer-by-layer work, where patience, detail, and craftsmanship are central.
