Dag Knudsen
Dag Knudsen is a Norwegian photographer based in Oslo. After working as an assistant for the renowned fashion photographer Alberto Serejo in the early 2000s, he established himself as a professional photographer with a clear focus on light, shadow, and composition.
Throughout his career, Knudsen has developed a distinctive interest in symmetry and geometry – a visual language he has explored for over a decade. In his series Symmetricatm, Symmetrizoo and Symmetricity, he experiments with doubling fragments of reality to create new, almost hypnotic expressions. He describes his fascination with symmetry as a reaction to nature's inherent imperfection: nothing in nature is completely symmetrical. By multiplying parts of a motif, he aims to challenge the viewer's perception and evoke a new visual balance.
Knudsen has participated in numerous international projects and exhibitions, including a five-week artist residency at Mana Contemporary in New Jersey in the summer of 2019. He has worked on advertising campaigns, fashion editorials, catalogs, and portraits, and has collaborated with clients worldwide.
Since 2010, his work has been published in cities such as Copenhagen, Paris, Berlin, Geneva, London, Milan, Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul, Sydney, Buenos Aires, Bogotá, Miami, San Francisco, and New York.
