"The Value of Colors" - an art exhibition by Salke1 from July 17 to 31.
"The Value of Colors" plays with the idea of value in every sense – cultural, emotional, and economic. At first glance, it is a celebration of colors, nostalgia, and familiar icons. But beneath the surface, it questions how we assign value in a world driven by money, branding, and fame.
Spray cans – raw, accessible, and often dismissed as tools for vandalism – are used here to paint symbols of extreme wealth and cultural power: the Monopoly Man, Uncle Scrooge, Richie Rich. The materials are modest. The motifs, anything but. This contrast creates a deliberate tension.
Comics once stood for innocence and fantasy. Today, they are luxury objects – displayed in galleries, fashion collections, and NFTs. These works confront this shift directly and ask:
Is it the color that gives something value – or the cultural baggage behind the character?
