A Celebration of Uneventful Places
- An art exhibition by the Norwegian contemporary artist Jørn O. Jøntvedt.
The exhibition opens on Friday, November 1st, at 6:00 PM. Here you can experience several paintings inspired by Gaston Bachelard's: The Poetics of Space.
"A love duet between dreamer and world, making man and the world into two wedded creatures that are paradoxically united in the dialogue of their solitude..."
"… How terrible the world seems to those who do not know themselves! When you felt so alone and abandoned in the presence of the sea, imagine what solitude the waters must have felt in the night, or the night's own solitude in a universe without end!" (Milosz's L'amoureuse initiation)
This is Jøntvedt's third solo exhibition with us at gallery M35. The two previous solo exhibitions were almost sold out, both in 2022 and 2023. The art exhibition from 2022 has been digitized and can be viewed here.
Who is Jørn O. Jøntvedt?
Jørn O. Jøntvedt (b. 1965) is a Norwegian contemporary artist. He received his art education from the National Academy of Art and Craft, and the School of Visual Arts in New York.
Jørn is strongly inspired by nature, and in his paintings, you often find either mountains, forests, or both. He enjoys experimenting with various materials, from wood, acrylic, old car lights, materials from boats, and plaster. When he works with wood, he carves the motifs by hand. This is a process that takes many hours of work.
