Eric Ness Christiansen
Over the past twenty years, Eric Ness Christiansen has established himself as one of the foremost street art artists in Norway. He is one of the key initiators and drivers in changing the perception of street art as an art form in Norway. In the early 2000s, he was seen as a rebel, on the wrong side of the law, with spray cans and paint rollers, tagging walls around Drammen. Ness Christiansen wanted to change the perception of graffiti as an art form. In 2014, Drammen municipality changed its zero-tolerance policy towards graffiti. The UGANG project was launched with Eric as the initiator, where 5000m2 of wall space would be decorated by 50 artists annually. Eric was no longer considered a rebel, but a resource who revitalized dull and drab city walls, showcasing local identity and innovation. In 2017, he received significant recognition by being awarded the Bylivsprisen (City Life Prize) in Drammen. Countless walls across Norway have been covered with colorful street art signed by Eric. In recent years, he has also become a sought-after curator for large graffiti projects nationwide. Eric translates his knowledge and passion for street art from the wall onto the canvas.
